
Hawks Snap Skid with 9-3 Win

South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
The South Bend Silver Hawks (66-70, 31-35) snapped a season-long six-game losing streak Thursday, beating the Lansing Lugnuts 9-3 at Coveleski Stadium. The Silver Hawks and Lugnuts will play the rubber match Friday at Coveleski Stadium. The Silver Hawks must win their final four games to finish the season at .500.
Archie Bradley (12-6) earned his team-leading 12th win in his final start of the 2012 season. The right-hander outdueled Aaron Sanchez (8-5), hurling six innings of three-run, four-hit baseball. Bradley struck out seven and walked two. Matt Sample worked the final three innings and notched his sixth save.
The Silver Hawks pounded out 15 hits and were led by Raul Navarro who finished 4-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Roidany Aguila was 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs. Eric Groff and Sean Jamieson each recorded a pair of hits. Eight of nine starters recorded at least one hit.
Tom Belza smashed his ninth home run of the season in the eighth inning. The Silver Hawks scored five runs in the ninth inning to put the game away.
Nick Baligod hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning for the Lugnuts, who mustered just four total hits in the game. The Lugnuts were just 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position while the Silver Hawks were 6-for-13 in such situations.
The Silver Hawks and Lugnuts play the final game of a three-game series Friday at Coveleski Stadium. Tyler Green (4-8, 3.61) starts for South Bend and he will be opposed by Noah Syndergaard (8-5, 2.74). First pitch is slated for 7:35 p.m. EST.
