Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that INF Alex Yarbrough has been promoted to the Arkansas Travelers of the Texas League. Mike LaCassa, Minor League Operations Manager for the LA Angels, announced the move on Friday.

The Angels selected Yarbrough in the fourth round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). In 58 games for the Kernels he hit .287 with 12 doubles, nine triples and 27 RBI. He was also 9 for 11 in stolen base attempts.

The Angels have not announced a corresponding move. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one short of the MWL maximum of 25, with two players on the disabled list.

The Kernels conclude a three game road trip tonight at 6:30 pm against the Peoria Chiefs. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 1st for the final three games of the 2012 season against the Clinton LumberKings, the Midwest League affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
