Appalachian Power Park Naming Rights Extended

CHARLESTON, WV (May 19, 2014) - The West Virginia Power front office, in conjunction with Appalachian Power, are pleased to announce the renewal of the naming rights agreement for Appalachian Power Park. The agreement, announced on May 17, will guarantee that the ballpark on Charleston's East End remains named after the state's preeminent utility company through at least the 2024 season.

"An agreement was put in place before this stadium opened and it made sense for everyone involved," said co-owner and managing partner Tim Wilcox. "Appalachian Power is a big part of this community in so many ways and we are happy to align with them for ten more years."

On hand for the announcement were Charles Patton, the president and chief operating officer of Appalachian Power, as well as Mark Dempsey, the External Affairs Vice President, and John Scalzo, the Business Operations Support Director. A commemorative plaque was presented by Wilcox, co-owner Steve White, and General Manager Tim Mueller.

Since 2005, over 1.75 million fans have walked through the gates at Appalachian Power Park for professional baseball alone. This number does not include all those who have been here for collegiate games, the state high school tournament, charity walks and other events or concerts.

"This stadium is in the fabric of the Kanawha Valley and the state," stated Mueller. "Having Appalachian Power's name on this class facility is as important to them as it is to us. The name will remain synonymous with baseball and family entertainment for years to come."
