Allen Americans News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Allen Americans earned another two points after defeating rival Corpus Christi 4-2 at the AmericanBank Center in Corpus Christi. The victory was the Americans' fifth straight win and brought their season series record against the IceRays to 4-1-0. The Americans are now 15-4-1 (31 points).

The IceRays got on the board first when Chad Woollard snuck one past goaltender Chris Whitley at 7:31, but the Americans responded when Nino Musitelli scored his fourth goal of the season before the period ended. Musitelli extended his point streak to 14 games with the goal.

Allen generated many scoring chances in the second and finally converted one into a goal when defenseman Tyler Wooddisse scored at 19:43 to give the Americans a one-goal lead heading into the third.

Corpus Christi tied the game 2-2 off a shorthanded goal from Justin Quenneville 44 seconds into the third frame, but Ryan Fairbarn helped Allen regain the lead when he found the back of the net off a nice pass from Bruce Graham. Justin Bowers sealed the game with a top shelf goal to put the score at 4-2.

Whitley kept the Americans in the game all night and made 31 saves.

Justin Bowers, Bruce Graham and Nino Musitelli earned first, second and third star of the game honors, respectively. Bowers had a goal and two assists, Graham had assists on the first three goals and Musitelli had a goal and an assist.

Up next for the Americans is a trip across the Metroplex to North Richland Hills to play the Texas Brahmas Dec. 9. It will be the first time the two teams have faced off after James Hiebert's hit on Americans' goalie Charlie Effinger. Effinger is currently on goaltender IR. Then, the Americans return to the Allen Event Center for back-to-back home games Dec. 11 and 12 against Tulsa and Laredo, respectively.
