December 5, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League added two new players to their roster today, signing forward Bear Trapp and defenseman Luis Tremblay. Both players are currently with the team in Texas and are expected to play tonight when the Mudbugs take on the Brahmas. The 'Bugs also announced that defenseman Tysen Dowzak has been recalled by the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.
Trapp, 25, joins the Mudbugs for his rookie season after a four-year college career at Sacred Heart University. The 6-0, 185-pound winger made his pro debut with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL last spring after completing his senior season. In six games with the Jackals, Trapp scored three goals, added one assist and had five penalty minutes. Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, Trapp totaled 156 points (56g, 100a) and 228 penalty minutes over 140 games in his college career at Sacred Heart. He also recorded 143 points over three seasons of junior hockey in the SJHL.
Tremblay, 26, comes to the 'Bugs after starting the season with the ECHL's Stockton Thunder. In 14 games with the Thunder this year, the
Val-d'Or, Quebec native posted two assists and 54 penalty minutes. After playing his first three pro seasons in the ECHL, Tremblay has spent the past two years skating in the LNAH in his native Quebec. The 6-1, 192-pound blueliner totaled 22 goals and 47 assists for 69 points and 356 penalty minutes in 198 ECHL games between 2004 and 2007.
Dowzak, 21, departs the Mudbugs after playing in 16 of the team's 18 games so far this season. The rookie blueliner registered two assists, 22 penalty minutes and a +1 rating for Bossier-Shreveport. Dowzak has already left the team to join the Wolf Pack after playing for the 'Bugs last night against Amarillo.
The Mudbugs will also be without defenseman Scott Kalinchuk tonight against Texas after he sustained an injury in last night's game and was subsequently placed on the 14-day injured reserve list.
Tonight the Mudbugs will face the Brahmas for the third time this season after the teams split their first two meetings of the year. The visitor has won both games in the series so far this season, with Texas winning 6-4 in Bossier City on October 30 and the Mudbugs answering with a 2-1 win on Brahmas ice on November 8.
Opening faceoff is set for 7:05 pm on Monday night with pregame coverage starting at 6:45 on News Radio 710 AM KEEL. The game can also be seen live online on CHL TV.
