(Laredo, TX) - Justin Styffe's two goals highlighted a 6-1 Laredo Bucks win over the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The two teams split their home-and-home series with the home team winning both games.

Styffe's first goal opened up the scoring at 13:19 of the first period on a backdoor pass from the left-wing side. It was the period's only goal giving Laredo a 1-0 lead at the intermission.

The Bucks made it a two-goal lead after two periods as Evan Schwabe scored at 4:52, then Styffe again with a shorthanded goal at 6:19. Both goals came on wrist shots from the right circle. Sebastien Thinel netted the only Odessa goal in the game at 18:14 on a top shelf, backhand shot in front of the net to make the score 3-1.

Laredo added three more in the third period from Eric Giosa, Jeff Bes, and Robin Richards to make the final score 6-1.

Dating back to last season's Southern Conference Semifinals, the win was Laredo's first in seven games against the Jackalopes - dropping Odessa's record to 16-4-2 this season.

Juha Toivonen stopped 31 shots in taking the loss. Kyle Gajewski earned the win.

The Jackalopes continue their road trip next Saturday when they head to Colorado to face the Eagles at the Budweiser Events Center. Game time is set for 8:05 PM Central Time. The action can be heard on 102.1 Jack FM. Colorado is currently in first place in the CHL's Northern Conference.

The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
