Americans Shutout Chiefs 3-0

The Americans traveled to Spokane today for the Chief's 2019 Home Opener . Coming off a 3-1 victory last night in Seattle, the Americans carried that momentum into tonight's game shutting out Spokane 3-0. With tonight's win the Americans improve to 3-1-0-0.

Veteran netminder Beck Warm highlighted the night with an impressive 38 save performance. His first shutout since November 14, 2018 in Swift Current.

Scoring opened tonight in the second period with a power play goal from overage defenseman Dom Schemiemann. Schmiemann found an opening in front of the net and scored the night's first goal off a feed from Nick Bowman. The assist marks Bowman's first point as an American.

Sam Huo extended the lead to two later in the period with another power play goal, assisted by Sasha Mutala and Sam Stewart. Huo has tallied three goals in four games, all on the power play.

The Americans finished tonight 2/4 with a man advantage. They are 6/17 on the power play through four games this season. Ranking them second in the league at 35.3%.

Paycen Bjorklund wrapped up scoring in the third period with a deflection directly following a faceoff.

The Americans were out shot 38-23 tonight.

The Americans will travel to Spokane tomorrow for the Chiefs' 2019 home opener. They will return to Tri-City a week later on October 5th for their own home opener against the Chiefs at the Toyota Center. Tickets are available.
