Swift Current Broncos News Release

SWIFT CURRENT, SK - The Swift Current Broncos (1-2-0-0) would like to forget Saturday's game against the Medicine Hat Tigers (3-1-0-0), dropping a 10-1 decision at the Canalta Centre.

Jonathan Brinkman opened up the scoring, streaking down the left wing and beating Jordan Fairlie on the glove side 6:17 into the game.

Just 30 seconds later, a turnover behind the Broncos net ended up in the slot and Tigers captain James Hamblin made it 2-0. Tyler Preziuso would score before the period was up as the Tigers took a 3-0 lead into the intermission.

The second period was a nightmare for Swift Current as they gave up six goals over the middle frame.

Bryan Lockner with two, Hamblin, Brett Kemp, Cole Sillinger and Nick McCarry had the Tigers up 9-0 heading into the third period. Fairlie was lifted to start the third, finishing his first WHL start with 21 saves.

The third period for the Broncos was undoubtably their strongest of the game as they had sustained zone time and multiple scoring chances.

Tyler Smithies stopped the bleeding when he redirected Kasper Puutio's shot from the right circle past the glove of Garin Bjorklund early in the period. Cole Clayton responded for the Tigers to make the final score 10-1.

Swift Current looks to move on from the loss when they host the Edmonton Oil Kings to the Innovation Credit Union iPlex on Wednesday night at 7:00.
