Tri-City Americans News Release
Kennewick, Wash. - The Americans are back in the win column after a thrilling 6-5 comeback victory against the Winterhawks.
Tri-City struggled at the start of the game as Cross Hanas scored just 53 seconds in to get Portland on the board first. Tyson Kozak and Jack O'Brien each followed with another goal for the Winterhawks to give them a 3-0 lead before the midway point of the first period. The Americans broke through on the power play with a goal from Ethan Ernst, scored off a pass across the slot from Marc Lajoie.
Portland's 3-1 lead held into the first intermission.
The Americans found their offensive stride in the second period as they scored five straight goals.
Sam Huo put the Americans within one 2:51 into the middle frame with a backdoor goal off a net front pass from Tyson Greenway and set up from Connor Bouchard. The play came off a forced turnover by Jake Sloan at the blueline. The game-tying goal came exactly ten minutes later as Bouchard scored on the power play, assisted by Huo and Marc Lajoie.
The Americans tied their season high for power play goals scored as they capitalized on two of six opportunities.
The initial go-ahead goal came at 14:01 from Ernst, his second of the night, assisted by Bryson Andregg and Tyson Greenway. The Americans acquired Ernst recently in a trade with the Kelowna Rockets. He has collected four goals in six games since joining the team.

Portland followed seconds later with a goal from Luca Cagnoni to put them back within one. The Americans lead held at 5-4 into the second intermission.
Cole Tisdale played his first game in net for the Americans after being acquired in a trade with the Kelowna Rockets last Sunday. The 19-year-old netminder from Lethbridge, Alta. held his team in the game with big saves throughout the night. In total, he turned aside 41 of 46 shots faced.
Early third period Jaydon Dureau scored a shorthanded goal for the Winterhawks to once again tie the game.
Petr Moravec followed two minutes later with tonight's game-winning goal, scored unassisted with a shot from the right circle. Moravec has scored three times this season, once in each of the Americans three wins.
