Americans Rally, Beat Mallards 4-2

MOLINE, Ill. (February 25, 2015) - Chad Costello scored the tying and game winning goals and Patrick Valcak piled up three assists as the Allen Americans (36-10-6) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the host Quad City Mallards (26-20-6) 4-2 Wednesday night.

Tyler Barr redirected home the first Allen goal at 2:45 of the second period. The Americans were up a man when Costello snapped off the equalizer from the top of the left wing circle at the 10:16 mark of the second.

Costello broke the deadlock on a breakaway at 10:16 of the third period. Kyle Follmer added an insurance goal from the doorstep with just two minutes and ten seconds left in the contest.

After jumping in front with close range power play goals from Pearce Eviston (7:40) and Logan Nelson (13:06) in the first period, the Mallards would not beat Allen goaltender Riley Gill (35 saves) again.

The Mallards return to action on the road Friday night against the Missouri Mavericks. The Mallards next play at home Sunday at 4:05 p.m. against the Mavericks. Tickets to Sunday's game are available for just $5 for children 12 and under. After the game fans can join the Mallards on the ice for a postgame skate.
