Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans had a busy day on Sunday, hosting the Tulsa Oilers on Faith & Family and Mascot Day, clinching a Division Title, as well as hosting a Hockey 101 & Clinic for a group of local Cub Scouts.

Cub Scout Group 496 from McKinney attended yesterday's Americans game as a group. The scouts were trying to earn their belt loop. As part of the requirements, they attended a Hockey 101 & Clinic hosted by Allen Americans Assistant Coach, Erik Adams.

The group of nearly 30 scouts gathered in a meeting room on Sunday at Allen Event Center. Adams explained the rules of the game and safety, as well as demonstrated how the hockey equipment is used and what each piece is for.

Several members of the group, along with one of the pack leaders, Dawn Hosier, joined Americans Broadcaster Tommy Daniels on the radio broadcast during the first intermission to talk about their exciting day.

"It was a great day for the kids," said Hosier. "Coach Adams did a great job of explaining the rules, as well as making it entertaining for all of us."

Following the game, the kids took part in a mini clinic on the ice. Assistant Coach Erik Adams, along with players Aaron Gens, Kevin Young and Captain Jamie Schaafsma demonstrated the game on ice and then gave the kids an opportunity to fire the puck into the net.

If you would like to bring a group to an Allen Americans game, contact the Americans front office at (972) 912-1000. Tickets for Round 1 of the Kelly Cup Playoffs go on sale tomorrow morning at 10:00 am at www.ticketmaster.com.
