Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, owned by the Calgary Flames and proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, sign goaltender Andrew Walsh to an amateur try-out contract.

Walsh, 24, played the last four years with the Bemidji State Beavers in the NCAA, posting a 20-36-13 record with five career shutouts and averaged a 2.76 goals-against-average and a .910 save-percentage. While he posted his career best 2.37 goals-against-average during his freshman season, his sophomore year proved slightly more fruitful as the goalie posted a .916 save-percentage, was named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week on three occasions, and was a member of the WCHA All-Academic Team, an honor he would also receive as a junior and a senior.

Originally from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Walsh began his career in the BCHL, playing for three different teams before playing in the NAHL with the Dawson Creek Rage.

The Thunder are back at home this weekend against the Alaska Aces for Covanta Easy Being Green on Friday and Saturday while Sunday sees the Star Wars universe once again invade Stockton Arena for Star Wars Night Strikes Back. For tickets call 209-373-1500 or visit StocktonThunder.com .
