March 19, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Allen Americans News Release

Loveland, Colorado - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, lost to the Colorado Eagles in overtime 4-3 on Sunday afternoon.

In the first seven minutes of the game things got physical with two fights to set the tone for the night. The game would remain scoreless until the 14:27 mark when Julien Nantel converted for the Eagles to give Colorado a 1-0 lead. The Eagles outshot the Americans 15 to 5 in the first period.

The Americans would answer in the second period when recently signed forward Tyler Poulsen scored his first-ever professional goal totie the game at 1-1. However, it would only take the Eagles 35-seconds to take the lead back when Joey Ratelle found the back of the net for his 17th of the season. The Americans would respond quickly when Zach Pochiro fired home his 16th goal of the year to tie the game for a second time at 2-2.

The game would head into the third period all even. Bryan Moore would give the Americans their first and only lead of the night as he converted his 18th goal of the season to make the score 3-2 with just under ten minutes to play in regulation. The Americans would fail to convert two power plays late in the third period. The Eagles would tie the game with less than 4 minutes remaining in regulation off a Ryan Olson goal on an odd man rush. The game would go to sudden death overtime and Ryan Olson would score his second goal of the night to win the game for the Colorado Eagles.

The American will return home on Wednesday night to faceoff against the Tulsa Oilers in a crucial divisional matchup game. The puck drop is at 7:05 PM.
