
Americans Bring the Bears in 4-1 Victory over Cougars

KENNEWICK, WASH. - The Tri-City Americans earned a 4-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars tonight at the Toyota Center in the 20th annual Fred Meyer Teddy Bear Toss.
The Cougars got on the board first 14:03 into the game with a goal from Ryker Singer off an odd-man rush. Prince George held on to their 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Alex Serraglio brought the bears early second period with shot from the blue line, assisted by Lukas Dragicevic and Tyson Greenway. It was the 18-year-old defenseman's first ever WHL goal. Serraglio is just the fourth defenseman to score the teddy bear goal for the Americans.
Americans fans tossed 2,787 stuffed toys on the ice. They will be donated to various local charities to distribute to children throughout the Mid-Columbia region.
After the bears came a flurry of goals from the Americans.
Jake Sloan swept in a shot from Sasha Mutala on the power play to take the lead 12:13 into the second period. Connor Bouchard also received an assist on the goal.
Less than two minutes later, the Americans extended their lead to 3-1 with a goal from Sasha Mutala. Connor Bouchard set up the goal as they entered the offensive zone and Mutala scored with a wrist shot from the high slot.
Bouchard's assist gives him 15 total points this season, tying Parker Bell for the team's points leader.
With 3:39 remaining in the second period, Parker Bell sent a pass across the slot to Ethan Ernst who took a shot from the low right circle that was deflected by Sam Huo into the net.
Scoring ceased after the second period and the Americans held on to earn the 4-1 victory.
Tomas Suchanek earned his second win of the season, stopping 38 of 39 shots faced.
The Americans are back at the Toyota Center next weekend as they take on the Everett Silvertips on Friday and Saturday at the Toyota Center.
