KENNEWICK, WA - The Prince George Cougars are returning home with just one win from their five-game road trip, after a 4-1 setback to the Tri-City Americans on Saturday night at The Toyota Center.

Prince George can circle the second period as their undoing. The Americans did all their scoring in the middle frame and equaled their season high for most goals in the second period.

"We were happy with our start. We managed the puck well, got a lead, I thought we did a real good job with our details, but our second period really hurt us," said Cougars' Associate Coach Josh Dixon. "We weren't ready to go at the start of the period and we essentially handed the game over to them (Tri-City)."

Ryker Singer scored the Cougars' lone goal late in the first period. Goaltender Tyler Brennan was saddled with the loss, as he kicked out 29 of 33 shots.

Singer broke the scoreless deadlock at 14:03 of the first period after he stepped out of the penalty and joined Fischer O'Brien on a two on oh rush. Singer finished off the dish from O'Brien for his third to put Prince George ahead 1-0.

Saturday was the Americans' Teddy Bear Toss night, and the fur finally flew early in the second period. Alex Serraglio triggered the cascade of bears when his point shot took a deflection and knuckled in at 4:33.

The delay cleaning up the stuffed animals didn't seem to affect the Americans, as they scored three more times in the second. Jake Sloan, Sasha Mutala, and Ethan Ernst all found the back of the net. Sloan and Ernst scoring on the power-play.

Prince George had a couple good looks in the second period, and both came off the stick of Koehn Ziemmer. The forward just missed tucking in the puck on a breakaway and then rifled a shot off the post.

The Cougars outshot the Americans 15-9 in the third period but could not squeeze the puck past the Americans' Tomas Suchanek.

Game Notes: The Cougars finish their road trip with a 1-4-0-0 record. After Saturday's loss, their road record dips to 3-8-0-0. The Cougars are now 1-2-0-0 against the Americans and wrap up the four-game season series Feb. 1st in Kennewick.
