Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Medicine Hat, AB - Nolan Ritchie scored twice, while Chad Nychuk (1G-1A) and Ridly Greig (2A) each had multi-point nights on route to a 4-1 victory in Medicine Hat on Saturday night.
The win helps wrap up a four-game in five-night road trip, with five of a possible eight points.
"I liked a lot of things tonight," said Head Coach Don Macgillivray. "Coming off a tough game we had tons of energy, played hard played fast, and were in good spots all night. We did a much better job in the offensive zone getting pucks to the top and traffic to the net."
Ethan Kruger was stellar, picking up his 8th win of the season turning aside 34 shots. The Sherwood Park, AB native was busy early on as the Wheat Kings found themselves in early penalty trouble.
"The only thing I didn't like tonight was the penalties," added MacGillivray. "On the flip side though our PK was perfect and our goalie was excellent. Krugs was really solid for us tonight, that might be the best I've seen him play this year."
The win gives the Wheat Kings back-to-back victories, heading home to kickstart a four-game week.
"When we saw the schedule in the summer, we all said this was going to be a tough stretch," added MacGillivray. "We did a good job in November and we made it through the tough road portion of this trek, but it is still a lot of games in a short span coming up. There are lots fo challenges for us, but when your playing well you want to keep playing and I think we're really starting to find our game."
The Wheat Kings welcome the Tigers to Westoba Place on Tuesday night. Tuesday is STUDENT NIGHT. Tickets are $15 with a valid University or College I.D. Plus, enjoy $3 BWK Lager all night long.
Hockey Happy Hour begins at 6:00, puck drop is scheduled for 7:00.
