Rebels Edge Hitmen in OT

Red Deer, AB - Kai Uchacz scored on a partial breakaway four minutes into overtime to lift the Red Deer Rebels past the Calgary Hitmen 4-3 on Sunday evening at Peavey Mart Centrium.

The Uchacz heroics capped a four goal comeback for the Rebels who erased a 3-0 second period deficit. Jhett Larson, Arshdeep Bains and Jace Isley also scored for Red Deer with Bains adding a pair of assists for a team leading three points.

Hitmen goals came off the sticks of Sean Tschigerl, Cael Zimmerman and Anton Yatsyshin helping Calgary build period leads of 1-0 and 3-2. Zimmerman along with Adam Kydd who added an assist both extended their point scoring streaks to five games.

Despite the loss, the Hitmen have now picked up eight of a possible 10 points in their last five outings posting a record of 3-0-2.

The Rebels outshot Calgary 33-24 while both teams went 1-4 on the power play.

The Hitmen, 10-9-2-0 this season, will resume their four game road trip in Lethbridge on Wednesday, Dec. 8 before heading to Saskatchewan for a pair of games. They will visit Saskatoon on Friday, Dec. 10 before a Saturday, Dec. 11 stop in Prince Albert.

Calgary's next home game is not until Wednesday, Dec. 15 when the Edmonton Oil Kings are in Scotiabank Saddledome for a 7:00 p.m. start.
