Amarillo Gorillas News Release
Amarillo, TX 11/14/08 - After going 3-2-0 in their last five games, there is reason for optimism in the Gorillas locker room.
One game into a six-game road trip, the Gorillas are still looking for their first win away from the Amarillo Civic Center in 2008-09 (0-2-0). Still, with newly acquired veteran goaltender Mike Gorman joining Ryan Smith between the pipes, the Gorillas have held their opponents to three or fewer goals four times in the last five contests.
In addition, Gorillas captain Sam Ftorek holds the second-longest point streak in the league (eight games) after tallying an assist in each game last weekend. Ftorek will look to extend that streak against Odessa Friday night, as Amarillo will travel to the Ector County Coliseum for a 7:05 PM start against the Jackalopes.
After taking on Odessa Friday night, the Gorillas will travel to Corpus Christi to take on the IceRays at 7:05 PM Saturday. Since 2005-06, Amarillo has picked up points in four straight games against Corpus Christi.
Both games can be heard in the Amarillo area on 1010 AM "The Canyon", with pre-game coverage starting at 6:50 PM. In addition, both games can be seen via free, live Internet telecasts on the CHL Network. For more information on the CHL Network, fans can go to www.nifty-tv.com/chl .
