Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Odessa, TX 3/1/08 - Mike MacDonald scored two short-handed goals and added two assists to lead the Odessa Jackalopes to a 6-2 win over the Amarillo Gorillas on Saturday night at the Ector County Coliseum. The Gorillas have now gone winless in their last seven games, going 0-4-3 over that span. Jason Chafe and Brett McConnachie tallied the only Gorillas goals, as the Gorillas are now 2-8-1 against Odessa on the season with one more game against them this year.

Amarillo would tie the game up at 1-1 early in the second off Chafe's power-play goal, but four straight Odessa goals would open up a 5-1 lead for the Jacks before McConnachie made it 5-2 at 7:21 of the third. Collin Circelli would put the nail in the coffin for the Jacks scoring at 10:51 of the third.

Amarillo would outshoot the Jackalopes 41-33 in the game, while going 2-8 on the power-play and holding Odessa to 2-7 on the man advantage.

The Gorillas remained two points behind the Austin Ice Bats for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Southern Conference, as the Bats fell to Rio Grande Valley 3-2.

Amarillo is back at it next week with home games on Thursday night against New Mexico and Saturday night against Arizona. Sandwiched between the two is a road game on Friday night at Tulsa.
