Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 1)- It took the extra period but the Texas Brahmas prevailed 3-2 over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Saturday evening at the NYTEX Sports Centre with the help of defenseman Kevin McLeod.

The Brahmas offense started things early when McLeod took a feed from Blair Manning and Grant Jacobsen on the powerplay to put Texas up 1-0. One minute later the Mudbugs answered back with a goal of their own from defenseman Dale Lupul at the 7:49 mark.

Bossier scored again in the first, this time shorthanded on Brahmas goaltender Brett Jaeger. It was Mudbug captain Chris Brassard's 26th goal of the season.

As the second began and tempers started to flare, Jordan Cameron found a hole in Mudbug's goaltender Ken Carroll's equipment with two minutes remaining in the period. Bossier doubled Texas' shots 22-11, but Jaeger was able to deflect the opportunities.

The bruising hits and outstanding defensive play continued for each side in the final period, causing Texas' fourth overtime of the season.

In the extra period, Kevin McLeod displayed his heroic antics in front of the sold out crowd at the NYTEX Sports Centre, slapping a shot past Carroll at the 2:05 mark. Jaeger stopped 26 of 28 shots as the Mudbugs outshot the Brahmas 28-24.

The Brahmas will hit the NYTEX ice tomorrow afternoon at 3:05 PM to face the Austin Ice Bats to extend their four game winning streak. For tickets please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423.
