Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
Laredo Bucks netminder Dustin Traylen made 30 saves on 31 shots to keep the Corpus Christi Rayz just out of reach on Saturday Night in a 3-1 Bucks win. The loss for the Rayz was the sixth straight game, without a win, dropping their record to 17-30-6. Austin and Amarillo both lost in regulation as well, keeping the Rayz six points back from the Austin Ice Bats and four back from the Amarillo Gorillas for the final playoff spot in the Southern Conference. The Rayz return to the American Bank Center on Sunday afternoon, concluding their four-game week hosting the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at 3:05pm. Tickets are on sale now. The Rayz played well in the frame, generating chances but could not solve Dustin Traylen in the first. The Rayz outshot the Bucks 14-9, but went into the locker room trailing after one period.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second period and the Bucks held on to their 1-0 advantage. The Rayz outshot the Bucks 11-8 in the frame.
Alex Goupil scored a shorthanded goal at 5:53 to give the Bucks a 2-0 lead in the third. The Rayz crawled back within one when Joe Blaznek beat Traylen on a slap shot off a faceoff at 11:06 to make it 2-1 Bucks. Laredo sealed the win with an empty net power play goal from Chris Korchinski at 19:58.
Tapp made 23 saves on 25 shots and took the loss, dropping to 17-25-6. Traylen's record with the win jumped to 22-7-2. Corpus Christi went 0-8 on the power play and Laredo was 2-7 on the man advantage. The Rayz outshot the Bucks 30-25.
