Trenton Thunder News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - Mandy Alvarez went 2-for-3 with a home run and a go-ahead RBI double in the Thunder's 5-2 win over New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon.

The teams traded two-run frames in the second inning and played into the eighth inning with the score tied at two. Ben Ruta started the eighth inning rally with a walk against Danny Young and after a pitching change, Chris Gittens reached on an infield single to put two on with one out. Alvarez then sent an 0-2 offering from Vinny Nitoli off the wall in right to score Ruta and take a 3-2 lead. Brandon Wagner added a two-run single later in the inning to give the Thunder bullpen more breathing room.

Brady Lail and Brooks Kriske combined for four scoreless innings to finish off the victory with Kriske recording his sixth save of the season.

Brian Keller made his return to the Thunder active roster with five innings pitched in a starting role. Keller worked through a 35-pitch second inning, when the Fisher Cats plated both of their runs, and settled in to retire the last eight men he faced. The 2018 Smith's Ace Hardware Thunder Pitcher of the Year went five innings allowing five hits, one walk and struck out three.

Chris Gittens, Wagner and Matt Lipka each had two hit days to lead a nine-hit attack for the Thunder in the victory.

The Thunder bullpen covered 14 innings in the three-game series victory allowing two runs, (one earned), on six hits, six walks and struck out 18.
