Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
Charleston, WV (April 15, 2013) - The South Atlantic League office has announced its' Players of the Week for the time period of April 4 through 14 and West Virginia Power infielder Stetson Allie was honored for his work during that time span. Allie is batting .396 with a league-best five home runs and 16 runs batted in this season, having played in every game so far.
Allie was selected as a pitcher in the second round of the 2010 draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates from St. Edward High School in Ohio. The right-hander pitched in the Pirates system during the 2011 season and began 2012 with West Virginia. After two appearances for the Power, Allie was sent to back to Extended Spring Training and converted to play the infield. Over 42 games in the Gulf Coast League, Allie batted .213 with three home runs and 19 runs batted in.
The 22-year old has hit safely in each of his last nine games and also has a ten game on-base streak entering play Monday. During the recent four game series at Asheville, the first baseman batted .500 with nine hits over 18 at bats with three home runs and eight runs batted in, helping the Power take three of four from the Tourists.
