Game #12 (7-4) - Home Game #5 (2-2)

RHP Euclides Leyer (1-0, 2.31) vs. RHP Brady Wager (0-1, 10.80) Today's Preview: The Intimidators (A, White Sox) face the Shorebirds (A, Orioles) for the second time in less than a week as Delmarva makes its only trip of the first half to CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Kannapolis took 2 of 3 games in Salisbury, Md., April 8-10 for a series win. The Intimidators lead Delmarva by a game in the SAL Northern Division standings with a 7-4 record, tied with Greensboro for the division lead. The Intimiators will look to build off yesterday's shutout win over Hickory.

Intimidating Starter: Euclides Leyer, 20, makes his third start and second straight against Delmarva, after limiting the Shorebirds to two runs over 6 2/3 innings in his last outing April 10. He fanned six in the process, giving him 10 strikeouts on the year. He has limited opponents to a .267 average so far this season (12-45). Leyer earned a promotion to Kannapolis late last season, going 2-1 with a 5.02 ERA (16 ER/28.2 IP) in five starts. He made his professional debut in 2010 with the DSL White Sox. Tonight marks the 40th start of his professional career and eighth with Class A Kannapolis.

Dealing for Delmarva: Brady Wager, 22, took a loss to Kannapolis on April 9, giving up six runs on eight hits over 5.0 innings in his lone start of the year. He was selected by the Orioles in the ninth round of the June 2012 draft and went 0-4 with a 4.72 ERA in 12 games (nine starts) in his professional debut between the GCL Orioles and Short- Season Aberdeen. The former Grand Canyon University product is making his first start of the year for Delmarva.

About Last Night: Myles Jaye worked a career-long 8.0 scoreless innings and allowed just four baserunners (three hits, one walk) while striking out seven to pitch Kannapolis to a 6-0 shutout win over Hickory. Jason Coats paced the team at the plate, going 3-5 with an RBI, and Rangel Ravelo went 2-4 with two runs scored to earn a series split.

Jaye's Day: Myles Jaye showed why he was named the Intimidators' opening day starter, earning his third win in as many games to tie Greensboro reliever Dane Stone for the league lead. His seven strikeouts on Sunday gave him 15 for the season, tying for third-most in the SAL, and he now leads the league with 18.0 innings worked.

Always On Base: Adam Heisler and Michael Marjama are each in the midst of a 10-game on-base streak. Heisler has reached safely in his last 10 games and is batting .385 (5-13) over his last five games. Marjama is on a 10-game hitting streak, the first by an Intimidators since Bill Rice hit in 10 straight from July 19 to Aug. 5 last season.

Micah on the Move: Leadoff man Micah Johnson swiped second base on Saturday against the Crawdads to increasing his league-lead to nine stolen bases on the season, two ahead of Lexington's Terrance Gore. Johnson went 1-3 with a walk on Saturday, scoring two runs to remain atop the SAL with 12 runs scored. He had his first night off of the season on Sunday.

Why? Be-Cose: Intimidators pitcher Jake Cose ranks 10th in the SAL with a 0.84 ERA (1 ER/10.2 IP) after two starts. He did not allow a run in his first 13 innings of work in the SAL, including 3 innings to end last season, before giving up an RBI-double to Hickory's Jordan Akins in the sixth inning on Friday.

NHRA vs. NASCAR Charity Softball: On Wednesday, April 17, the racing world descends upon CMC-NorthEast Stadium as drivers from NASCAR and NHRA square off in a charity softball game featuring big-name stars from both circuits. Gates open for a pre-game autograph session at 5 p.m. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
