Kitchener Rangers News Release

Kitchener, ON: 26 years. 172,267 donated bears.

Thanks to the generosity of our Rangers' Community, the 26th Annual Kitchener Rangers Teddy Bear Toss presented by Canadian Tire's Jumpstart was a great success. Fans arrived at The Aud on Tuesday, December 7, armed with 7,406 plush toys to help make the holiday season a little more magical this year.

Just past the 11-minute mark of the first period in play, Carson Rehkopf scored the Rangers' first goal, which made the bears fly!

In Teddy Bear Toss tradition, fans were encouraged to bring a new plush toy to the game and throw their bear onto the ice surface immediately following the Rangers' first goal.

All 7,406 bears have now been turned over to more than a dozen local charitable organizations.

The Kitchener Rangers partnered with Canadian Tire's Jumpstart program, a national charity dedicated to providing children from financially disadvantaged families with the opportunity to experience the benefits of organized sport and physical activity.
