Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Isotopes (70-64) fell behind in the seventh but stormed back with four eighth-inning runs defeating the Sounds (51-83) 9-7.
The Topes cut the lead to one in the seventh. Then with two outs and a runner on in the eighth, Tony Gwynn Jr. singled and Scott Van Slyke walked to load the bases. Chili Buss then delivered the go-ahead two-run double. He matched Justin Sellers with 26 double baggers on the season and leads the Pacific Coast League with 90 RBI. Alex Castellanos followed with a single, sending Van Slyke and Buss home giving the Isotopes a late 9-6 lead.
Elian Herrera (2-for-5, 2B, R), Tony Gwynn Jr. and Scott Van Slyke (2-for-3, RBI, R, 2 BB), the two-through-four hitters, each tallied a multi-hit game. Gwynn Jr. went 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs and a walk.
Angel Castro turned in a stellar starting performance and collected his first professional hit in the fourth inning. The righty went six-plus innings and was charged with three runs, two earned. He surrendered just three hits, including a homer by Robinzon Diaz, while walking three and striking out four. Castro has gone at least six innings in his last four starts.
Sean White (5-6, 3.59) entered in the seventh after Castro's departure and allowed two inherited runners to score. He went two innings allowing three runs on four hits, earning the win. Peter Moylan picked up his fourth save with a one-run ninth.
The Isotopes loaded the bases with a double by Herrera and two straight walks in the first. Buss followed with a deep sacrifice fly to the hill in centerfield scoring Herrera, and Tony Gwynn Jr. from second base.
Castro sparked the offense with a two-out single in the fourth. A throwing error allowed Castro and Dee Gordon to reach third and second respectively. The pair then scored on a second throwing error to first base off the bat of Tony Gwynn Jr.
The first four Nashville batters in the seventh reached base safely leading up to Kentrail Davis' three-run homer to center, as the Isotopes fell behind for the first time of the game.
Brent Leach (0-2, 6.39) suffered the loss for Nashville, allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning.
