Aces Break High-Five Record
August 24, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release
Reno, Nev.-Reno Aces fans have unofficially set a new world record tonight for the most simultaneous high-fives, the club announced.
The record of 5,206 people simultaneously high-fiving took place before the beginning of the seventh inning Friday night. Video was shot of the ceremony from the center field camera, and documentation will now be submitted to Guinness World Records to be verified.
"What an awesome way to celebrate five years of Aces Ballpark," said Eric Edelstein, Reno Aces EVP/COO. "We all thank you for the support you have given us, and we look forward to so much more affordable family fun in the coming years."
The record number was determined by taking the number of tickets sold, factoring in a higher-than-average no-show rate for a conservative estimate.
The promotion was part of the celebration surrounding the Aces' fifth season in Reno.
The current official record, which sits at 4,699 people, was set in Louisville, KY, last April.
A limited number of $5 general admission tickets still remain for Reno's final two home games of the season on Saturday and Sunday.
Ticket plans for the 2014 season are now on-sale at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office. For up-to-date news and notes throughout the season, visit www.RenoAces.com, follow the club on Twitter (@Aceball) or like the team on Facebook.
