Reno Aces News Release

RENO, Nev.-The Aces offense, aided in part by a struggling Salt Lake pitching staff, helped Reno to a 12-6 win on Friday night at Aces Ballpark.

Bees starter Dontrelle Willis walked two of the first three batters he saw, before giving up one of two home runs in the inning to Mike Jacobs. After issuing yet another walk, Alfredo Marte hit one out to extend Reno's lead to 5-0.

Willis walked seven on the night, and also hit a batter. He gave up eight earned runs on five hits in 3.2 innings. In all, the Bees pitching staff issued 10 walks, tying a season high for Reno this season.

Aces starter Mike Bolsinger cruised through the first five innings, surrendering just three hits in the stretch. He ran into trouble in the sixth inning. He limited the damage to just two runs on two hits, while walking one in the frame.

Reliever Evan Marshall took over in the seventh. The righty gave up singles to the first three batters he faced, before Luis Jimenez hit a bases-clearing double to left field. A wild pitch allowed another run to score, but the damage stopped there.

Ryan Stovall recorded his first Triple-A hit in the bottom of the seventh, an RBI double, to put Reno up 9-6. Brad Snyder followed up with a triple to right center to plate Stovall, and a Juan Rivera RBI single rounded out the inning. The Aces tacked on one more run in the eighth on a fielder's choice to bring the final score to 12-6.

Five Aces batters had a multi-hit performance, and Josh Wilson was the lone Reno position player to not reach base. Tyler Bortnick finished the night 0-2, although he was walked three times and hit by a pitch. He came around to score three times against the Bees.

Bolsinger evened his record at 6-6 with the win, giving up just two runs on five hits through 6.0 innings. He struck out five and walked four. Relievers Tony Sipp and David Hernandez combined to shutout Salt Lake over the final 2.0 innings, allowing just a hit and a walk between them, to seal the win for Reno.

The series continues Saturday night at Aces Ballpark. RHP Charles Brewer (5-11, 5.12 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Bees will counter with RHP Jarrett Grube (6-5, 4.56 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and 2,000 lucky fans at the gate will receive the Aces tin lunch box giveaway. A limited number of $5 general admission tickets are still available.

Tickets are available for Reno's final two home games at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
