Alberts Named Pointstreak Batter of the Week

AMARILLO, TX - The American Association of Independent Baseball announced today that Amarillo Sox outfielder Tim Alberts has been named the Pointstreak Batter of the Week for the week of June 20 to June 26.

Alberts hit .621 with 13 RBI during the week. Additionally, he walked twice, scored seven runs and one homerun. Alberts highlight of the week was the June 26 game against the Shreveport-Bossier Captains. He went 6-6 with a two doubles, a walk, a homerun, three runs scored and seven RBI, including the game-winning RBI single in the tenth inning to lead the Sox past the Captains 21-20. The six hit performance tied an American Association record for hits.

For the season, Alberts leads the team with a .400 batting average, which is fourth in the league. Additionally, he has hit five homeruns and has 39 RBI, good for seventh in the league and is fourth in slugging percentage.

Alberts joins Lee Cruz and Van Pope as the third Sox batter to be named the Pointstreak Batter of the Week. Cruz earned the honors for the week of May 22 while Pope earned it for the week of June 13.
