Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release

SHREVEPORT, LA - The Shreveport-Bossier Captains, presented by U-Auto Pull-It Auto Parts, Landers Dodge, Fitzgerald's Contractors, and KTAL NewsChannel 6 (NBC) announced today they have joined forces to host a special weekend honoring the heroes of our military.

President Harry S. Truman once said, "Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifice". Those very words are the driving force behind this year's 4th of July celebration at Fair Grounds Field. As part of the Shreveport-Bossier Captains' continued commitment to the men and women of the United States Military, the organization will honor those who have served our country. With proper military, DOD and VA identification, active duty and U.S. military veterans (including Reserve and Guard members and DOD civilian employees) will receive four free reserved admission tickets both the Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2 home games against the Amarillo Sox, compliments of the Shreveport-Bossier Captains.

The short two-game series with the Amarillo Sox begins Friday when the first 500 kids (14 and under) receive a Red, White, and Blue logo ball courtesy of Fitzgerald's Contractors. Saturday's game will feature a post-game fireworks show courtesy of Landers Dodge. First pitch for both games will be 7:05pm with gates opening at 6:05pm. The festivities of the evening will include a special tribute to active and retired military members, fireworks show, and feature a National Anthem and God Bless America performances by US Air Force Staff SGT Chonte' Walker.

July 4th is a day to reflect upon and celebrate the lives of the individuals who have sacrificed their own being so that Americans can live freely on a daily basis. The Shreveport-Bossier Captains are a proud supporter of the military and General Manager Chet Carey wouldn't have it any other way.

"The Captains are dedicated to supporting U.S. military service members and veterans through our partnerships with Landers Dodge, Fitzgerald Contractors, and KTAL", Captains general manager Chet Carey said. "We live under a blanket of freedom which is only possible by the dedication of the men and women of our military and to be able to host an event like this is not only a proud moment for this organization but more importantly it is a privilege".

After this home stand the Captains begin an 11-game road trip traveling to Amarillo to begin a three-game series against the Sox then off to Fort Worth with a 4-game series before heading to Wichita to take on the Wingnuts for the last three games of the long road trip. Captains return home on Friday, July 17 against the Fort Worth Cats. Season tickets and single-game tickets are available for purchase in-person or over the phone by visiting the Captains Executive Offices at 2901 Pershing Boulevard at Fair Grounds Field or by calling (318) 636-5555. VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express accepted.
