Albany right wing Bicek recalled by New Jersey

Albany N.Y. – The Albany River Rats today announced that the New Jersey Devils have re-called right wing Jiri Bicek. He ranked third on the Albany roster with 14 (4-14) points in 23 games during the 2002-03 season.

Bicek, 24, moved into a second place tie (Bryan Helmer & Scott Pellerin) on the River Rats' all-time point scoring list with a goal in last night's 4-3 overtime victory over the Manchester Monarchs at Pepsi Arena. The Kosice, Czechoslovakia native shows 63 goals and 149 assists for 212 points in 367 American Hockey League matches since the beginning of the 1997-98 season.

The 5-10, 190-pound winger scored in his National Hockey League debut with the Devils in Toronto against the Maple Leafs on February 19, 2001 and has appeared in six NHL games with one goal and a minus one rating for the Devils.

The Albany River Rats skate in a road contest against the Syracuse Crunch at 7:30pm tonight and return home for a 4:00pm matinee against the East Division-leading Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Sunday. All fans are being asked to bring toys to assist the Families of the Albany River Rats Toy Drive and Teddy Bear Toss to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region.
