Alaska Takes Round 3, Utah Goes for Split Monday

Anchorage, Alaska - The Alaska Aces defeated the Utah Grizzlies 8-4 Saturday night in Anchorage in game three of a four-game series between the two teams.

Utah will go for the series split Monday at 9:15 p.m. from Sullivan Arena.

Alaska built a 4-0 first intermission lead as the Aces took a 1-0 lead 3:14 into the contest. The Aces then scored three goals on Utah penalties to complete the first 20 minutes.

Utah battled back in the second period to quickly make it 4-2 with goals from Mark Isherwood and Brad Mills 1:08 apart. Alaska though answered with two more goals off of penalties and one by NHLer Scott Gomez to get their four-goal lead back and more. Mitch Wahl's fifth goal of the year with 53 seconds left in the second made it 7-3 at the second intermission.

In the third, Utah made it 7-4 on another Mitch Wahl goal, before Alaska again got their four-goal lead back by scoring a power-play goal with 24 seconds left.

Mitch Wahl (two goals, one assist), Brad Mills (one goal, two assists) and Mark Isherwood (one goal, one assist) all had multiple-point games for Utah.

Seven of the 12 goals in the game were scored in non five-on-five situations as the two teams combined for 124 penalty minutes as tempers flared from the very beginning.

The Grizzlies return home Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15 to host Alaska. Face-off both nights is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The 14th is "Pooch on the Pond" where fans are can bring their dogs to the game. A ticket for a fan and their dog is $20. The 15th is our Toy Drive and a post-game skate with the team. Fans can save up to $5 off of a ticket when they bring a toy to the Maverik Center box office.
