Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (15-6-1-0), defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, were dealt their second regulation loss at home by the Idaho Steelheads (16-5-0-2) 3-2 before a crowd of 7,586 at the Reign's 3rd annual Teddy Bear Toss.

The Steelheads got on the board first as Mathieu Tousignant popped the puck over Chris Carrozzi's glove through traffic. Tousignant got control of the puck off a long shot from defenseman Matt Case. Justin Dowling also assisted the play. The Reign couldn't convert any of their four power-play chances through the frame but Colton Yellow Horn lit the lamp at 15:29 to unleash the downpour of thousands of teddy bears and other stuffed animals for the Reign's third Teddy Bear Toss. Dan DaSilva moved the puck from the neutral zone into the left corner of the Idaho zone where Brodie Sheahan tangled with two Steelheads. The puck came out right toward Beskorowany who thought he had control but Yellow Horn took it and popped it up top shelf on the backhand for the Reign's first tally of the night.

The Steelheads came out strong in the second period getting two more goals past Carrozzi. Idaho's Austin Fyten and Austin Smith set up Adrian Foster to give the Steelheads the get-ahead goal at 4:40 of the second period. Foster got in close and tucked the puck right behind the Reign goalie. The third marker for the Steelheads came at the hands of a Reign error. A poor pass between the Reign defensemen allowed Smith to deflect the loose puck across the goal line to give Idaho a two-goal lead at 7:23.

The Reign had a glimpse of a comeback when Vincent LoVerde netted his sixth goal of the season - a power-play goal. The defenseman's sixth marker of the season came off a slapshot from the Steelheads blue line assisted by Derek Couture and C.J. Stretch. The helper extended Stretch's point streak to 10 games. Toward the end of the third period Carrozzi left the cage to give the Reign an extra skater but the Reign couldn't close their 3-2 deficit.

Carrozzi's seven-game streak ended with 16 saves on 19 shots. Beskorowany earned the win stopping 27 of 29 shots.

Three Stars:

1. IDH - Austin Smith

2. IDH - Adrian Foster

3. ONT - Vincent LoVerde
