Gladiators Beat Titans, 4-2

DULUTH, Ga. - Tyler Murovich scored twice to lead the Gwinnett Gladiators (18-6-1-0) to a 4-2 win over the Trenton Titans (8-11-1-2) on Sunday afternoon at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Murovich picked up his second goal of the game 7:42 into the third period as he fought through traffic to punch the puck in an opening for the game-winning goal. With the marker, the Gladiators took a 3-2 lead as Rylan Galiardi picked up an assist on the play.

Doug Jones scored the last goal of the game with an empty netter 19:31 into the third to top off the 4-2 win. The goal was Jones' tenth goal of the season.

Andrew Conboy put the Titans on the board and scored the first goal of the game 2:57 into the first period. The Gladiators answered with a goal by John Scrymgeour 11:32 into the first to tie the score 1-1. The goal came through traffic as he picked up the rebound from Cody Brookwell. Evan Bloodoff also earned an assist on the play.

With only 20 seconds left in the first period, Tyler Murovich scored for Gwinnett to give the Gladiators the 2-1 lead over the Titans. The marker came on the power play as Murovich found the loose puck in the slot before potting the goal. Cody Carlson picked up a helper on the play.

Ian Slater scored the only goal of the second period 3:13 into the stanza to even the score at two. Slater beat Gwinnett netminder Louis Domingue to the short side for the marker.

The Gladiators are 6-2-0-0 when playing a team from another division and improved to 2-6-0-0 when their opponent scores first. With the win, the Gladiators remain in the top spot in the South Division and the Eastern Conference with 37 points.

The Gladiators will be on the road for the next five games as they begin the road trip on Thursday in Greenville, SC against Greenville Road Warriors at 7:00 p.m. They will return home to the Arena at Gwinnett Center on December 27th and 28th to play the South Carolina Stingrays.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
