Aeros Sign Joey Martin to PTO

HOUSTON (DECEMBER 2, 2011) --- Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill today announced that the American Hockey League (AHL) team has signed forward Joey Martin to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Martin, 23 (7/27/88), joins the Aeros starting the season with the Toledo Walleye (ECHL). In 15 games, he registered nine points (4-5=9), good for fifth on the team.

This is the 5-foot-10, 185-pound Thorold, Ontario, native's first pro season after playing four years at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (NCAA). During his senior season, Martin led the team in scoring with 35 points (11-24=35) and was tied for both the team assists lead and plus/minus lead with a plus-19 rating. His goal, assist and point totals were all career-highs, and he as one of 10 players to appear in all 39 games. Martin will wear sweater No. 24 with the Aeros.

The Aeros visit the Rochester Americans on Friday at 6:35 p.m. (CST) and travel to Toronto to face te Marlies on Saturday at 2 p.m. (CST).
