OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 2, 2011) - The Ottawa Senators announced today that the club has acquired forward Rob Klinkhammer from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a conditional seventh round draft pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Klinkhammer, 25, has recorded two goals and four assists in 18 games with the Blackhawks' American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, this season. He will join the Senators' AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, who play three games in three nights this weekend.

A native of Lethbridge, Alta., Klinkhammer set professional career highs in goals (17), assists (29) and points (46) while ranking third in overall team scoring in 76 games with the IceHogs last season. He was recalled on one occasion by the parent Blackhawks and made his NHL debut in a game against the Dallas Stars on Dec. 7, 2010. In that contest, he was held scoreless while registering a +1 rating.

Undrafted, Klinkhammer is in his fifth season of professional hockey, all of which have been with the Blackhawks' organization. In 308 career AHL games with the Norfolk Admirals and Rockford, Klinkhammer has recorded 133 points (56 goals, 77 assists) and 180 penalty minutes.

The B-Sens, in fifth place in the AHL's East Division with a 7-12-1-1 record, next see action this evening when they host Manchester at 7:05 p.m.
