Aeros record third-straight win

ROCHESTER, New York --- Joel Broda scored twice, including the shorthaded game-winner with 3:24 gone by in the third period, to help the Houston Aeros record their third-straight win and standings point in eight straight games (5-0-2-1) in a 4-3 win over the Rochester Americans on Friday at the Blue Cross Arena.

The Aeros are now 9-1-0-1 on the road, 13-3-2-4 overall and remain within a point of the West Division-leading Oklahoma City Barons.

The Aeros trailed after one period on Rochester goals by Shaone Morrison and Evan Rankin, but bounced back with second period tallies by Broda and Kris Foucault. The Americans regained the lead with Rankin's second goal of the game 3:47 into the middle stanza, but Houston retaliated with goals off the stick of Justin Fontaine and Broda in the third.

Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves in his first AHL win of the season for Houston.

The Aeros visiti the Toronto Marlies on Saturday at 2 p.m. (CST) .
