
Aeros Pick Up Home Win, 6-2, over Rock Cats

Akron, OH -Nick Weglarz and Ryan Rohlinger each had two-run singles Tuesday night, leading the Akron Aeros to a 6-2 win over the New Britain Rock Cats in the opener of a three-game series at Canal Park.
The Aeros (34-20) have won five of their last six games, and improved to 21-7 at home this season. With Harrisburg's 9-6 win over Binghamton, the Aeros lead in the EL West remains 4 =C21/2 games over the Senators.
Weglarz lifted a soft liner to center in the third inning off B.J. Hermsen (3-2), chasing home Adam Abraham and Juan Diaz to break a 1-1 tie. The hit improved Weglarz's RBI total to 17 for the season.
Rohlinger provided some insurance with a two-run single of his own in the seventh, giving the Aeros a 5-2 lead. His smash up the middle drove in Abraham and Kyle Bellows, both of whom had walked.
Akron starter Giovanni Soto (5-2) worked 5 1/3 innings for the win. He allowed a pair of solo homers, and worked around four walks.
Tim Fedroff led off the Akron first inning with a home run, his third of the season and first at Canal Park.
The Aeros and Rock Cats (32-24) will continue the series on Wednesday evening at 7:05. RHP Brett Jacobson (0-0, 5.14) is the scheduled starter for the Cats, while RHP Brett Brach (1-2, 4.09) figures to get the ball for Akron.
