Aeros Stat of the Day:

. The Akron Aeros now have a 45-13 record in 58 games this season when scoring at least four runs, also 21-4 when scoring seven runs or more and thus just 8-34 with three runs or less.

Aerodynamics.

. Saturday Night Fever. The Aeros dominated the Reading Phillies Saturday night, utilizing strong start pitching and a furious offensive attack to win 12-1 in front of 6,765 fans at First Energy Stadium. The scoring began in the second when Akron first baseman Beau Mills scored on a John Drennen fielder's choice. Mills then smacked a three-run homer as the road team scored five times with no outs in the third inning before in the fourth, Reading scored their lone run against starter Alex White. The Aeros then scored in each of the next four frames highlighted by two runs in the sixth and then solo home runs from right fielder Jerad Head and the left fielder Drennen. White (6-4) earned the victory while Phillies lefty Yohan Flande (7-7) took the loss.

. Alex the Great. Saturday night was yet another impressive Double-A start for White, the youngest member of the entire Akron roster. The right-hander struck out seven batters in his seven innings, allowing just the single run on eight hits. It was White's sixth consecutive quality start, the longest streak by an Aero pitcher this season, as he now has a 1.48 ERA in 12 starts in the Eastern League. He now ranks second in the entire Indians organization with a 2.00 ERA combined this season along with 90 strikeouts. Ever since his promotion from Class A Kinston on May 23rd, he has stabilized a pitching staff that now has a 3.20 ERA over these past 58 contests with 21 quality starts after a 5.09 ERA and only six quality outings in the first 42 games.

. Runaway McBride. Another offensive star Saturday was the designated hitter Matt McBride, who finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. The Bethlehem, PA native also scored three runs and collected two RBI, continuing his offensive production over the last month. McBride now easily leads the Eastern League with an .870 slugging percentage and a 1.297 OPS in 24 games played since June 28th and has a .370 batting average with nine walks, 10 doubles, 12 home runs and 29 RBI over this span.

. Topekan Tornado. Head extended his hitting streak to nine games Saturday with yet another home run. The product of Topeka, KS homered for the fourth time in seven games, and has also recorded an RBI in eight of his last 10. He is now batting .296 on the year in Double-A, and has been most impressive both at home at Canal Park and against left-handed pitching. The outfielder has a .351 batting average in 28 home games and is now batting .345 with six homers in 58 at-bats against lefties.

. Rubber City Records. Akron's hot streak resumed Saturday night in Reading, ending a two-game losing streak at First Energy Stadium. The Aeros are now 17-7 over the past 24 games and are doubling up opponents by the score of 142 to 71. For the year, Akron has now out-scored opponents by a season-high 18 runs, after actually losing by 43 runs after only 25 games played. The team is also only 4.5 games behind the Western Division lead for the first time in over three months, dating back to April 21st.
