Aeros Stat of the Night:

. Since losing at Richmond on June 28th, the Akron Aeros are now 11-6 in their past 16 games. The pitching staff has limited opponents to two runs or less six times with a 2.07 ERA overall.

Aerodynamics.

. Blowout City. Akron dominated the Erie SeaWolves at Canal Park Friday night, earning an 8-1 victory in front of 7,144 fans in attendance for Fireworks Friday. Right-hander Paolo Espino delivered six shutout innings while fellow Eastern League All-Star Brooks Brown struggled early as he allowed two runs on two triples in the second frame. Lonnie Chisenhall then had an RBI double in the third while Brown left the game in the fifth as a double steal plus a throwing error scored a run before Carlos Rivero added another single. The Aeros scored their final runs in the sixth and eighth innings on a double by Tim Fedroff, a fielder's choice from Matt McBride and an RBI single courtesy of Kipnis. Erie's only run came in the ninth against reliever Steven Wright as Espino (9-3) earned the win with his impressive outing and Brown fell to 7-6 on the year with the loss.

. Electric Espino. The Panama native limited the SeaWolves again Friday, recording five strikeouts against only three hits with no walks in his six innings. In four games (three starts) against Erie this season, Espino is now 4-0 with a 0.86 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched as he now is tied for second in the Eastern League with nine wins. Last night was just the second quality start of the year for the 23-year-old as he tied a season-best with the six frames. He led the Class A Carolina League with a 2.59 ERA with the Kinston Indians in 2009 and was a 10th round selection by the Cleveland Indians in the June 2006 Draft.

. Fedroff on Fire. Center fielder Tim Fedroff finished 2-for-4 at the plate Friday night to pace the Aeros offensive attack. He collected a double, a triple, two runs scored and two RBI the day after snapping his season-high 12-game hitting streak. It was his team-leading 24th multi-hit game as the University of North Carolina product is batting .267 in 85 contests on the year.

. Walk of Life. Both Cleveland Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and Kipnis showcased their patience in the batter's box Friday against Erie. The top two men in the batting order twice drew back-to-back walks, helping the host offense finish with 16 at-bats with runners in scoring position overall. Kipnis was a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI while drawing his three walks while the injured Cabrera left the game for pinch-hitter Jerad Head in the seventh and was 0-for-2 with his two free passes.

. Lawn Mower. Reliever Omar Aguilar struck out the side in the eighth inning Friday, continuing a solid streak late in games. The 25-year-old right-hander now has a 1.72 ERA with 41 strikeouts in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings this season.

. Tonight, Tonight. Saturday night is the seventh of eight straight meetings between the Aeros and the SeaWolves. The Great Transparency will have a pre-game Faith Night concert at Canal Park starting at 6:00 p.m. while after the contest Appalachian Outfitters presents the second Scout Night of the year.. Akron hosts the first-place Altoona Curve starting Monday.
