Aeros Stat of the Night:

. Saturday night's 4-0 victory at Jerry Uht Park in Erie was Akron's seventh shutout of the season, second in the Eastern League, and the team now ranks sixth with a 4.17 ERA.

Aerodynamics.

. Saturday Showdown. The Aeros stayed hot Saturday night with a 4-0 shutout victory over the Erie SeaWolves at Jerry Uht Park. A crowd of 4,546 fans in Erie witnessed the performance by the dominant Akron pitching staff while the offense provided just enough run support in the end. Catcher Miguel Perez reached base on an error to begin the third and three batters later, second baseman Jason Kipnis doubled for the game's first RBI. Left fielder John Drennen followed with another run-scoring single and first baseman Matt McBride then homered to start the sixth inning. After a walk and a hit by pitch, third baseman Cristo Arnal ended the scoring with a single to center field, securing the 4-0 margin. Starter Alex White (4-4) was dominant again for the Aeros as he held the SeaWolves scoreless through the first six innings of the contest and Erie starter Duane Below (3-8) took the loss.

. Quality Control. White has been starring in the Akron starting rotation ever since his promotion from Class A Kinston on May 23rd and he proved it again Saturday night in Erie. He struck out seven batters while allowing just four hits and a walk, recording his fourth straight quality start and 12th quality start in his past 16 outings overall. The 21-year-old now has a 1.53 ERA in 10 his starts in Double-A with a .190 batting average against, and has been even better over his past four outings. He has allowed just two earned runs on 19 hits over 24.1 innings pitched since June 25th, striking out 15 against three walks. White also drew a pair of walks and scored a run offensively Saturday as an odd lineup mistake forced the pitcher to bat and lose the designated hitter.

. Sun Devil Pride. Another young pleasant surprise for the Aeros this year has been Kipnis, who doubled twice in Saturday's victory over the SeaWolves. He is now batting .298 with 21 runs scored and a .381 on-base percentage in 28 games played in Double-A, continuing the same type of offensive production he had with Class A Kinston before his promotion on June 10th. The Arizona State University product was a second-round selection by the Indians in the June 2009 Draft.

. Joyous July. Much like in June, Akron has been one of the most Eastern League successful teams in the early part of July. The Aeros are now 7-3 this month and are out-scoring their opponents by a tally of 59 runs scored to only 26 allowed. The pitching staff has been the main surprise, posting a 2.07 ERA in July with a .193 batting average against in 91.1 innings pitched. A total of 14 Akron pitchers have combined to strike out 93 batters against a very impressive 1.09 WHIP so far this month.

. Streak for the Cash. Akron's offense has been hot over this four-game winning streak and features several notable current feats. Center fielder Tim Fedroff extended his hitting streak to 10 straight games with a single Saturday night while McBride's home run helped him to reach base safely on the road again, a stretch lasting all 39 games away from Canal Park this year.
