Aeros Stat of the Night:

. Akron Aeros outfielders John Drennen and Tim Fedroff each collected two hits during Wednesday's win in Richmond, remaining tied for the team-lead with 19 multi-hit performances this season.

Aerodynamics.

. So Long, Squirrels. The Aeros concluded their season series with the Richmond Flying Squirrels Wednesday evening and held on for an 8-6 rubber match victory at The Diamond. Akron jumped out to an 8-1 lead halfway through the contest, highlighted by a two-run homer by first baseman Matt McBride. The Squirrels fought back from there, as they scored two unearned runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to cut the deficit to only two. Reliever Omar Aguilar battled back however, and after allowing the first two batters to reach base in the ninth, forced three straight outs for his fourth save of the year. Aeros ace Alex White (3-4) earned the win with another quality start and Richmond starter David Mixon (8-4) struggled mightily in taking the loss.

. Amazing Alex. White returned to form Wednesday night in Richmond as he snapped a personal three game losing streak with the win. He delivered 6.1 innings pitched of quality baseball, only permitting one earned run (three runs total) with four strikeouts against five hits and one walk. It was White's sixth quality start in eight Akron outings this season, and he now has a 2.27 ERA in 16 starts between Class A Kinston and Double-A. The 21-year-old product of the University of North Carolina entered his first professional season in 2010 as the ninth-best prospect in the Indians organization, according to Baseball America.

. Big Mac. McBride ended the month of June on a positive note as he homered in a second straight contest against the Flying Squirrels. He is a native of Bethlehem, PA where he also attended Lehigh University, and has been one of the most impressive road players in the Eastern League this year. He walked and homered Wednesday night, extending his on-base streak away from Canal Park to an unbelievable 33 games since the beginning of the 2010 season. The home run he hit Tuesday night was his first since May 19th, and he is now batting .287 with all six of his home runs on the road along with 21 runs scored and 22 RBI.

. Air Jordan. Another hot Akron offensive star is leadoff center fielder Jordan Henry, who smacked two more singles during Wednesday's victory. The Ole Miss product recorded the team's first two-steal game of the season in swiping second base in the fifth inning and third base in the ninth. He also became the only Aero in June to collect multiple hits in three consecutive nights, and the last was John Drennen who accomplished the feat in four straight days from May 21st through May 24th.

. Joyous June. The Akron Aeros finished the month of June with a 17-10 record, tied with the first-place Altoona Curve for tops in the Eastern League. The Aeros continued their franchise-record 12-game winning streak to begin the month and finished with a 3.56 ERA as a team, fourth in the EL. That has helped the squad lower the overall ERA for the season to a solid 4.45 after beginning the year with a 6.24 ERA after a 20-11 loss against Trenton on May 3rd through the season's first 24 games.
