Sens Fall in Trenton

The Harrisburg Senators dropped game one of a four-game series with the Trenton Thunder on Thursday night, losing 4-1 in Trenton.

Trenton starter Cory Arbiso turned in a strong performance, allowing one run over four innings of work, but settled for the no decision. J.B. Cox worked two scoreless innings in relief of Arbiso, and got the win to improve to 1-0.. Ross Detwiler, making his second AA start in 2010 on his way back from injury, took the loss to fall to 0-1. Ryan Pope picked up his 2nd save for Trenton.

The Thunder (48-30) got the scoring underway with one run in the first innings, and added two more in the second to take an early 3-0 lead. The Sens (38-42) got their one run in the fourth inning, when Tim Pahuta drove in Chris Marrero with a single. Marrero has now scored five runs over his past three games.

The Sens outhit Trenton, 8-7, but could muster just one run, as they left eleven runners on base. No Senator had more than one hit, but everyone in the lineup except leadoff hitter Brad Coon had one. Pahuta, Marrero, Danny Espinosa, Marvin Lowrance, Jesus Valdez, Michael Martinez, Edgardo Baez, and Jhonatan Solano collected the hit.

The teams resume the series on Friday evening at 7:05, with RHP Andrew Kown (2-3, 3.77) squaring off against RHP Lance Pendelton (6-3, 3.70). Radio coverage with Terry Byrom begins at 6:50, on 1460 AM:The Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com.
