Aeros Stat of the Night:

. The Akron Aeros committed three errors Saturday in Portland, the 10th time the team had at least three in a game this season. Akron's 66 errors rank third to last in the Eastern League.

Aerodynamics.

. Portland Blues. The Aeros lost for the fifth time in six games Saturday night, falling by the final score of 11-5 to the Portland Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field. Akron's pitching staff struggled overall although the visitors actually took a 3-0 lead in the very first inning thanks to RBI doubles by Jason Kipnis and Lonnie Chisenhall. Portland pounced against Aeros ace Alex White after that, scoring single runs in the first and second innings before extending the margin to 6-3 in the third. Both teams went back-and-forth with the run production in the ensuing frames as Jordan Henry had a run-scoring groundout and Carlos Rivero collected his second homer of the year while the Sea Dogs continued to explode offensively. White (2-3) took his second straight loss in a matchup against Portland's Stephen Fife (4-1) as the hosts pounded out 15 hits and nine extra base-hits on the night.

. Wacky White. Saturday night's outing was the worst start in the brief Double-A career for the 21-year-old White. He surrendered six runs (three earned) on eight hits with just one strikeout as he now has a 2.08 ERA in six starts for Akron. The North Carolina product has had trouble getting decent run support all season as he only has a 4-6 record in 14 outings despite his 2.52 ERA between Class A Kinston and the Aeros. Cleveland selected the right-hander in the first round (15th overall) of the June 2009 Draft, and Eastern League opponents are batting just .173 thus far against him in his first professional season.

. Solid Sun Devil. The second baseman Kipnis was the leading offensive producer yet again for Akron Saturday in Portland, collecting a pair of doubles with a run scored and an RBI. He has now hit safely in all seven of his games played for the Aeros and has a .346 (9-26) batting average with a 1.144 OPS. Kipnis, a product of Arizona State University and Cleveland's second-round selection in the June 2009 Draft, earned the promotion from Class A Kinston last Wednesday last after former Akron second baseman Cord Phelps moved up to Class AAA Columbus. In 90 career minor league games played during these past two seasons, the 23-year-old is batting .306 with nine home runs, 54 RBI and a solid .392 on-base percentage.

. Cats and Dogs. After Portland snapped a 12-game winning streak for the Aeros last Sunday, it has been a rough going for Akron pitchers. The New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Sea Dogs have combined 38 runs on 55 hits in these last six contests while collecting 40 walks. During the franchise-record winning streak, the Aeros pitching for staff posted a dominant 2.63 ERA.

. Home, Sweet Home. This weeklong road trip concludes this afternoon at Hadlock Field where left-hander Scott Barnes makes his team-leading 13th start of the season. Akron then finally returns home to Canal Park Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. for the opener of a six-game home stand against the Richmond Flying Squirrels and the Binghamton Mets.
