Trenton Thunder News Release
Binghamton, NY- Luis Hernandez's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the tenth inning brought in Jose Coronado to score the winning run, as Binghamton beat the Thunder 10-9 in extra innings on Saturday night at NYSEG Stadium. With the loss, Trenton falls to 40-26 on the year.
Binghamton rattled RHP Cory Arbiso early in the game, scoring five runs on seven hits, including five doubles, and led 5-0 at the end of three innings. Trenton got themselves on the board in the fourth inning, as Brandon Laird hit a two-run home run to left field. Marcos Vechionacci also belted a homer in the inning, cutting the B-Mets lead to 5-3.
Eric Campbell, who hit a home run in the third inning off Arbiso, mashed a two-run home run off RHP Ryan Pope in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Thunder responded in the sixth inning, as Vechionacci drove in his second run of the game on a single, but Binghamton picked up another run in the bottom half to go up 8-4 after six innings.
With the Thunder trailing 9-6 in the top of the ninth inning, Trenton was able to tie it up on four hits, including an RBI double by Austin Romine. Matt Cusick drove in Romine to tie the game off RHP Emary Frederick. Binghamton had the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth, but RHP Grant Duff (1-3) struck out two consecutive batters to send the game to extra innings.
Luis Nunez led off the tenth inning with a single to left field and advanced to third base, but was stranded after RHP Edgar Ramirez (3-0) struck out Romine to end the threat. Josh Satin led off the bottom of the tenth with a single off Duff and advanced to third before being taken out for Coronado. The Binghamton infielder beat the throw home from Daniel Brewer to score the winning run, as Binghamton moved to 3-0 in extra inning this season.
