Altoona Curve News Release

RICHMOND, Va. - The Altoona Curve completed their second three-game sweep of the Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA - San Francisco) using a pair of big hits from Alex Presley and Josh Harrison to aid in a 6-2 win on Sunday night at The Diamond. RHP Tim Alderson (6-3) rebounded from a rough outing in Trenton to toss seven innings of two-run baseball for his sixth win of the season.

Trailing, 1-0, entering the sixth, Altoona rallied for a quartet of runs off Squirrels starter Clayton Tanner (4-5) and it began with back-to-back singles by Gorkys Hernandez and Harrison with one out. After Matt Hague reached on an error by Conor Gillaspie to load the bases, Jordy Mercer tied the game with a sacrifice fly to right field and all the runners moved up 90 feet.

With first base open, Richmond elected to walk Hector Gimenez intentionally to load the bases for the league's leading hitter in Presley, who cleared the bases with a triple that center fielder Darren Ford lost in the sun. After 5.5 innings, Altoona led, 4-1.

Richmond answered back with a run of its own in the bottom half of the inning off Alderson but Altoona responded with two more in the top of the seventh. With Chase d'Arnaud and Hernandez on via the free pass, Harrison laced a double off Daniel Turpen to right field to clear the bases and put the Curve in front by four at, 6-2.

After Alderson's seven innings of work, Derek Hankins came on to pitch 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball before turning it over to closer Daniel Moskos for the final out in the ninth. Moskos induced a game-ending ground out by Ford to notch his league-leading 16th save of the season.

Hernandez finished the game 3-for-4 while Harrison went 2-for-5 with the two RBI. d'Arnaud was also able to extend his season-high hitting streak to nine games with his single in the top of the ninth inning. With the win, Altoona is now 21 games over .500.

After an off day on Monday, Altoona (45-24) opens up a six-game homestand beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday with three games against the Boston Red Sox Double-A Affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs (36-32). LHP Rudy Owens (6-3, 2.93) will take the hill for Altoona in the lid lifter while RHP Alex Wilson (0-1, 21.00) toes the slab for Portland.

Tuesday is a Two-for-Tuesday at BCB presented by Atlantic Broadband and KRAFT Singles. Fans can receive two-for-one offers on tickets, hot dogs and popcorns for Tuesday night's game. Radio coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.
