. Shutout Sunday. The Aeros recorded their second consecutive three-game series sweep with a 3-0 victory over the Harrisburg Senators Sunday afternoon. It was the fourth shutout of the season for the Akron pitching staff that also limited the Sens to just five hits and two walks on the day. Right fielder Matt McBride helped the Aeros take a 1-0 advantage with a leadoff double in the fifth inning and he eventually scored on a Carlos Rivero RBI single. The team then added the final two insurance runs in the top of the eighth against Harrisburg reliever Adam Carr. Catcher Damaso Espino and new third baseman Adam Davis each singled and DH Lonnie Chisenhall delivered with a two-run, two-out double. Akron starter Nick Hagadone (1-0) earned his first Double-A victory with five dominant innings while Senators lefty Tom Milone (5-2) took the loss despite a seven-inning quality start.

. Heroic Hagadone. In just his second start for the Aeros, the lefty Hagadone turned in a masterful performance Sunday afternoon in Harrisburg. He scattered just four hits and a walk in five shutout innings and he matched his career-high with seven strikeouts. Right-hander Paolo Espino relieved Hagadone in the bottom of the sixth inning because the 24-year-old remains on a strict 80-pitch count limit. He had Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in June 2008 and Sunday's outing was one of his best performances in the past two years. Hagadone was traded to the Indians from the Boston Red Sox organization last July and he now holds a 2-3 record with a 2.51 ERA in 12 combined starts this season between Class A Kinston and Akron.

. Double Trouble. The shortstop Rivero led the Aeros offense again Sunday at Metro Bank Park. He extended his hitting streak to a season-high 10 consecutive games with his 2-for-4 performance. He also recorded a two-out double to left field in the seventh inning yesterday against Milone, marking his fifth straight contest with a double. That is the longest extra-base hit streak by an Akron batter this season as the 22-year-old Rivero now is tied for second on the team with 11 doubles on the year.

. Lucky Sevens. Sunday's victory extended Akron's winning streak to a season-high seven straight games as the team has now climbed out of the cellar in the Eastern League's Western Division. The Erie SeaWolves were rained out Sunday, moving the Aeros a half game ahead of Erie for fifth place in the division. This marks the first time since May 8th that Akron is not tied for or in sole possession of last place. The Aeros are now only 2.5 games behind second-place Bowie Baysox for the wild card spot.

. Home, Sweet Home. The Akron Aeros return to Canal Park Tuesday night for the start of a six-game home stand against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Portland Sea Dogs. This will be the only visit to Ohio for both teams during the 2010 season and Akron will make the subsequent journey to New Hampshire and Maine next week for a six-game road trip.
