SAN ANTONIO (December 6, 2011) -- San Antonio Rampage forward Garrett Wilson scored his first career AHL goal in the Rampage's 6-1 loss to the Houston Aeros on Tuesday night at the AT&T Center.

The Aeros got on the board first with a goal from right wing Jarod Palmer 9:33 into the opening period to go up 1-0. After a slap shot from left wing Kris Foucault hit the left post, Palmer swept the rebound past Rampage backstop Dov Grumet-Morris for his third marker of the season. Center Harrison Reed also picked up an assist on the play with the secondary helper.

Center Warren Peters gave Houston a 2-0 lead with a shorthanded goal at 16:53 of the first. Forward Chad Rau picked up a loose puck at center ice and sprung Peters for a breakaway from the San Antonio blue line. Peters beat Grumet-Morris with a shot over the goaltender's blocker for his fifth goal of the season and widened the Aeros' lead to two goals.

San Antonio answered with a score of their own just 31 seconds following Peters' goal. With the Rampage on a power play, left wing Evan Barlow took a pass from right wing Michal Repik and faked a shot before feeding Wilson at the front of the net. He directed the Barlow pass by Aeros netminder Darcy Kuemper for the first AHL goal of his career and cut the Houston lead to 2-1.

Foucault reestablished the Aeros' two-goal lead nearly a half a minute later. He deflected a slap shot from defenseman Kris Fredheim past Grumet-Morris and handed Houston a 3-1 edge with his sixth goal of the season.

The Aeros went up 4-1 just over four minutes into the second when right wing Justin Fontaine finished off a two-on-one rush for his sixth marker of the 2011-12 campaign. Left wing Joel Broda fed Fontaine when the duo crossed the Rampage blue line and Fontaine wristed a shot past Grumet-Morris' left shoulder for the score. Grumet-Morris was relieved by San Antonio goaltender Jacob Markstrom following Fontaine's goal.

Peters tallied his second goal of the night at 12:13 of the second. He got his stick on a centering pass from center Jeff Taffe and deflected the puck inside the right post to give Houston a 5-1 lead. Defenseman Chay Genoway recorded his 13th assist of the season with the secondary helper on the play.

Aeros forward Joey Martin scored his first ever AHL goal 16:17 into the second to make the count 6-1 in favor of Houston. Martin received a feed from forward Mike McKenzie in front of the Rampage goal and backhanded a shot that beat Markstrom along the ice for the score. Also notching an assist on the Martin goal was defenseman Drew Bagnall.

Kuemper stopped 31 of the 32 Rampage shots he faced for his second win of the season. Grumet-Morris turned aside five of nine Aeros shots in the San Antonio loss. Markstrom made nine saves on 11 Houston attempts in relief.

The Rampage (10-13-0-0) travel to Houston for a rematch against the Aeros on Friday. The fourth meeting of the season between the two teams takes place at 7:35 p.m. (CST) at the Toyota Center.
