Crunch Ink John Kurtz to AHL Deal, Ducks Assign Deslauriers

Syracuse, NY (December 6, 2011) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that left wing John Kurtz has been signed to an American Hockey League contract, per club policy financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Additionally, the Ducks have returned goaltender Jeff Deslauriers to Syracuse.

Kurtz, an Oakville, ON native, played 49 games with the Crunch during the 2010-11 campaign totaling six points (4g, 2a) and 102 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, Kurtz played in 251 OHL games for for the Sudbury Wolves and Windsor Spitfires, where he recorded 143 points (71g, 72a) and 175 penalty minutes.

Deslauriers, 27, was recalled to Anaheim on November 27, but did not see any game action. Deslauriers has played in seven games with the Crunch this year with a 3-4-0 record. Deslauriers was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round (31st overall) of the 2002 NHL entry Draft and acquired by Anaheim as a free agent on July 12, 2011.

The Crunch travel to St. John's for a two game tilt with the IceCaps before returning home to the War Memorial Arena on December 10 to take on the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. The 10th is also the Stanley Steemer Tired Teddy Toss, bring a new or gently used stuffed animal to toss for a chance to win $500 gift card to Carousel Center. Stuffed animals will be collected and refurbished by Stanley Steemer before being donated to the Salvation Army.
