Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals announce today that the club has acquired two players via trade and signed another.
The Admirals exchanged future considerations to the Wichita Thunder for defenseman Andrew Blazek. Blazek, 27, is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound defenseman from Pittsburgh who has skated in 37 career ECHL games. The Robert Morris University product scored two goals and eight assists, and is a combined plus-9 for Cincinnati, South Carolina and Wichita since turning pro in 2014. Blazek logged a helper in 20 games for the Cyclones during the 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs. He went scoreless in three contests at the AHL level with Worcester last season.
In addition to Blazek, Norfolk picked up forward Kurt Etchegary from the Toledo Walleye in a trade including future considerations from the Admirals' end. Etchegary, 21, hails from St. John's, Newfoundland and spent the previous four seasons with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Etchegary shared the bench with former Admiral Marco Roy, and captained the Remparts in his final two seasons with the team. The 5-foot-11 and 190-pound rookie had 25-35` points in 65 games for Quebec last year, and scored twice and assisted once in three games with HC Benatky nad Jizerou of the Czech Republic's second elite league earlier this season.
The Admirals also signed forward Ryan Jasinsky today, a free agent from Midlothian, Va. Jasinsky, 25, participated in Norfolk's preseason training camp back in early October.
The Admirals return home on Wednesday, November 25, for a four-game homestand. Family Fun Packs and $10 Student Rush tickets are available at the Scope Box Office on game day. Those interested in purchasing Student Rush admission should bring a valid college or high school ID to the box office after 2 p.m. on game day.
